"A Japanese Restaurant where freshness and traditions are key"

When your supplier has fresh, good seafood that is handled with exquisite care, the result shows in the food that you serve. And it is this vital aspect that sets apart the sashimi and sushi at this Japanese restaurant at Tanjong Katong. The freshness and good quality of the produce is starkly evident when compared to other Japanese restaurants of this stature where ala carte buffet rules the roost.

Japanese customs and sensibilities also inherent here in the way the food is served and presented. Sashimi is always served first so that the tastebuds can savour the simplicity in the freshness and delicacy. While Singaporeans really do not care how items are served especially when it comes to buffets and sets, as long as "stuff is cheap and good", both your dining experience and health can truly be enhanced by these Japanese traditions. The friendly and knowledgeable service staff and chefs understand these traditions and follow them, and this is another aspect in which the restaurant stands out-Japanese dining traditions.

The sashimi platter I started out with was fresh and lovely and cost only $25. The starter of salmon flake and seaweed showed a balance that prepared the palate for the rest of the meal. The tempura was light and invitingly crispy without the oiliness.

All in all the chef's skills come through from food to presentation and the creativity that he shows. The simplicity when things need to be simple is respected.

While the Set Menus are the highlight there is also an ala carte menu for a larger range of fare.

The décor of the restaurant is tasteful and cozy, and the location outside the business district is ideal for a peaceful meal or a business meeting. Lots of parking is available at the back.

Minori Ya means Harvest House and there certainly is a feeling of abundance and good tidings with a meal that is good from start to finish. It is where Japanese traditions are preserved and where freshness and quality of food ensure a memorable dining experience.
